1st October - Date Day
Around 6 weeks or so ago, my partner and I decided on a wholesome idea for spending quality time together, which concluded that on the first Saturday of every month, we would alternate 'date days'. The premise is simple, the budget is £50 (for both of us), and is paid by the person planning the date. One month I pay and plan, one month she pays and plans, and so on. We devote the day to the person we're planning for, and try to include activities which we know they will personally enjoy.
Last month was her day, so I surprised her with a trip to Cotswold Wildlife Park, and with the remaining budget we opted for the 'rock, paper, scissors' challenge in ASDA. Did I let her win every round? No comment. Today, we're kicking things off with the North London derby in the local pub, which should be fun considering we're seeing my Spurs-supporting father-in-law tomorrow... Come on you Gooooooners! Next up, we're off to the cinema, and then bowling, which is a real favourite activity of mine. We're ending things, in now traditional fashion, with the 'rock, paper, scissors' challenge, this time in Tesco.
No matter who you are spending time with, quality time is a real key component of any relationship. A parent-child dynamic, a friend & friend setting, or a lover and lover scenario, make sure you set time aside this weekend to call or message someone you care about and arrange to set up some quality time with them in the coming months. Maybe even schedule in your own 'Date Day'? You'd be surprised at what a mood lifter it can be!
