31st December - The Final EVER 'Year of the Gable' post
And now, my time has come, and so I face... The final curtain. 365 days of entries here on this diary, and from tomorrow, the entire thing will be wiped and completely defunct. Firstly, for those who have read this blog over the course of the past year, I thank you. Whether you actively supported it for the first half of the year but then lost interest, like Jade. Whether you read the posts from a far, lurking but never interacting, like Tayler, or if you commented on just about post ever shared, like Vicky, I thank you. Maybe, you were a 'Paulina' and just followed the blog's Instagram page but never indicated any inkling of ever reading it. But this was something that I spent around 30-60 minutes per day on, which translates to roughly 30 full working days on this thing.
No monetisation, no promo, no advertising, no 'follow for follow' or any attempts to make the blog 'go big'. Just a simple motivation tool. By forcing myself to open my laptop every morning, the lid then stayed open, and I'd regularly embark on long days of work, thrusting myself into a productive state for 12+ hours. The tactic paid off. This has been a year of more than 30 flights. 4 continents. Hard work amassing the finances to make such adventures possible. In 2023, I won't be achieving as much. I know that, because I choose that. This year was fun, but at times, it was impacting my health, both physically and mentally. I won't allow my intense attitude towards work to consume me, or turn me into somebody I'm not.
I don't wish to be constantly stressed, or snappy with friends and family on account of meeting deadlines at the expense of social interactions. Rushing home to get back to my laptop, or giving myself chest pains from the constant worry and anxiety over my meticulously managed hourly-schedule, every day of my life. My number one 'resolution' in 2023, is to relax. To take things at a slower pace, and to recuperate from a year which resulted in burnout on more than one occasion. I regret nothing, 2022 has been the best year of my life by an absolute mile. But ad you grow older, you also learn from such experiences, and the coming year will be a time for me to re-energise the tank... Because 2024 is shaping up to be the biggest of all time. One thing I think we can all agree on, is that these past 12 months truly have been...
... The Year of the Gable.
