21st June - Summer Solstice

It is, in my opinion, the greatest day of the year. The most amount of daylight we will receive in 2022 has arrived, at a whopping 16.5 hours, thanks to a 4:43am sunrise and a 9:21pm sunset. The 21st of June is known as 'Summer Solstice' which represents the absolute peak of Summer, and every year, on this date, many come together to celebrate the occasion, with the nights slowly getting darker soon from tomorrow all the way through to 21st December.

It is then, perhaps peculiar, that so many associate July or even August with 'Summer' when our absolute peak has been and past by the end of June, but the coming weeks evoke memories of pub gardens, BBQs (for those lucky enough to possess a garden at the back of their home), and starting next week... Wimbledon! I'll be popping down on Tuesday for a slice of fun at the All England Tennis & Lawn Association, and have no doubt that Monsieur Djokovic will once again be walking away with the sport's top prize. Strawberries & Cream, a few cold Stellas in a plastic cup, and a refreshing jug of Pimms to perk the spirits as the afternoon wears on... What could be better?

... Except, of course, Summer Solstice!
