9th May - Why aren't we naked?
Once again, I continue to be blown away by the musings of Jordan Peterson. I first stumbled across Professor Peterson, and his teachings, around 6 months ago now, and I've continued to invest a hearty interest in his words during that time. Yesterday, I really channelled into the importance of listening to my body, something all of us could certainly work on, and I made a mental list of the things which make me feel good in some way, but not a 'euphoria' level of 'good', more of a serene, calm, mindfulness. Filled with peace, and complete stress-free relaxation.
I've worked out, over the years, that yes, taking long walks is the ultimate mind clearer (nothing new there, scientists have known as much for decades), but for me personally, that doesn't work in the morning, afternoon, or late night. It has to be during the specific slot between early evening and twilight, or 'dusk' as it is more commonly known. When the air has cooled, but the sun is setting, and the sky merges between that tint of warm pink, and a soothing baby blue. With that in mind, I walked down a long and secluded country lane for close to an hour in my somewhat precarious and infamous 'willy shorts' as my other half refers to them.
These are essentially sports shorts, which offer supreme comfort, but via the thin material, also offer a somewhat non-subtle view of my Johnson's outline. She also insists I wear boxers under them, or else my gigantic hairy chicken fillets have a tendency to flap around, bouncing from thigh to thigh as I stride. Whilst down this lane, I had my phone strapped into one of those runner's armbands around my bicep so that my hands were empty, and my over-ear headphones nestled nicely upon each ear, as I listened to Jordan's chat with Steven Bartlett from a few months back, titled 'How To Become The Person You've Always Wanted To Be'.
Whilst down this lane, with a clear view of nobody in front (or behind) of me for miles, and no surrounding houses, I even lifted up the side of my shorts and tucked them into my waistband, allowing full genital exposure. Firstly, I know you're judging such a comment. Which is what I'll discuss in greater detail in a moment. But secondly, I hasten to add I'm certainly no 'sex offender' or 'flasher' or weirdo. If I'd even seen the remote sight of any jogger or dog walker emerging in my distance, the meat & two veg would have been quickly hidden away again faster than you could say 'pink smurf's hat', but how often, as human beings, do we feel the raw breeze of nature upon the skin in our genital region? Safe to say (for the reasons above), almost never, in our entire lifetime. Considering we are born wearing such skin and nothing else, does that not seem... Unnatural, to you? To do so, all whilst not offending those around you and still conforming to acceptable social behaviours, feels liberating, and forms a deeper connection with nature.
Jordan's podcast was, predictably, mind-blowingly insightful. Quite frankly, the best 68 minutes of audio I've probably ever listened to. The wisdom this man possesses is staggering, and one of the elements he focused on was how we are now designed, almost 'programmed' to act a certain way, because that's what society teaches us, or shows us how we're expected to be. But in reality, those who feel brave or free enough to break such conventions, and follow their own heart's desires, are the ones who have managed to crack the eternal conundrum of life, which is to 'shed' your outer shell, and be 100% raw and authentic with this Universe we live in, and all those around you. I now implore you, to take 7/8 minutes out of your day, and listen to the below snippet, taken from the podcast....
... There's a lesson here, which we all could learn.
