5th May - Drive

What do you do without it? I'm genuinely curious, because every day of my life, I have some form of goal to work towards. That can be daily goals, broken down hour-by-hour, sometimes minute-by-minute, but also, longer term goals. Things I will accomplish within a month, 3 months, 6 months, or a year into the future. I already know which countries I'll be travelling to in 2023, 2024, and even 2025. Because if you don't set those goals now, how do you hope to achieve them?

This - by the way - is certainly not some kind of 'Oooh look at me, I'm a LinkedIn wanker' workaholic post. Your goals can be as small or as large as you like. But you have to have them, because what else are you working towards? What can motivate you to go to work every morning if you don't already know how you're going to spend that money once you've earned it? We trade our time, for money, which is in turn exchanged for the experiences and goals which fill up our lists. Without events and blocks in our calendars, how can we motivate ourselves to even leave bed, daily? Why should we? What's it worth?

So in order to chase those goals, you must have that drive. Like all of you, my drive fluctuates. I'm certainly no Wolf of Wall Street on a daily basis. Many times, I find myself exhausted and mentally frazzled into submission, but without a 'pot of gold' at the end of my rainbow, I could easily switch off and fall into bed by 2pm. What prevents me from doing so, is that knowing that if said work is not complete, neither will the payment be, and suddenly... Everything I'm working towards, is in jeopardy. If there's one quality I implore you to garner heading into the next few years of your life...

... It's drive.
