15th Mar - Forgotten 90s Gems

I'm a bit tired today, Mondays are always a super long day for me, and my ageing legs were given the runaround at 7-a-side last night where I had the chance to grab a last-gasp equaliser, but as we punted an Allardyce-style long ball into the box, route one, I found space on the edge of the D, and as the ball dropped to me, circa-Sheringham to Solskjaer '99, I rushed my shot and saw it drag agonisingly wide of the far post, with the ref blowing his whistle a matter of seconds later. Ah well, you win some, you lose some. Or in our case, you win very occasionally, and lose the majority.

With that in mind, I thought I'd post a fairly 'lazy' blog today, touching on my favourite decade of all time, the 90s. For most of you within my target audience, I'm gonna guess you share such nostalgia. Like, for example, do you remember Panda Pops? Or Sunny Delight? How about Doritos 3D? Or those Cartoonies biscuits? Don't forget Cadbury's Astros... Or the thick creamy goodness of an Onken Frufoo yoghurt or a Shakey Jake milkshake. The latter was the result of a wonderfully catchy TV commercial, as were BN biscuits. (BN, BN, doo doo, doo doo doo).

Kappa was big. As was Ellesse. Or if your folks didn't have much money, it was probably Gola, or Hi-Tec. Or perhaps a pair of Bull Boys trainers. And everyone had those Adidas 'popper' tracksuit bottoms. Everyone carried round a Jane Norman bag. Maybe on a Friday night you'd go to Blockbuster, or just stay at home and watch Robot Wars, and The Simpsons. On Saturday mornings, it was Kenan & Kel, Rugrats, Pokemon, or Miami 7 on Live & Kicking. Sundays, time to play your Gameboy colour, or Goldeneye on your N64. And then back to school on Monday to collect Pogz, those football shirt Pencil Toppers, the England World Cup coins, or the Corinthian figures, all whilst reading Shoot! magazine. Welcome to the 90s...

... And all those forgotten gems.
