1st Feb - Duvet Day

Today's plan of action... Sweet FA. Because today, is February's Boxing Day. This is a concept you'll be familiar with following my previous blog and essentially means today is my 'cheat day' regarding all walks of life. I can get up when I want, I can eat what I want, watch what I want, and so on. It's a once-per-month treat which allows you to detox from the high acidity dealings of work, stresses, strains etc, and lets you refocus your mind ahead of another productive month.

Remarkably, I woke at 7am on account of my mammoth - and much-needed - sleep last night, so the idea of a lazy morning under the duvet was soon abandoned in favour of 'The Book of Boba Fett'. I've always been a ginormous Star Wars fan, even enjoying the much-maligned prequels (Unpopular opinion: 'Revenge of the Sith' is potentially the best of the lot!), as well as hyping myself for two thirds of the sequels ('The Last Jedi' cannot be defended). Throw in the animated 'Clone Wars', Rogue One, SOLO, the LEGO specials, The Mandalorian, and everything else, there are very few blades of LucasFilm grass I'm yet to sample. But I've so far found Boba's spin-off unusually underwhelming, and certainly not worth of kickstarting the £7.99 Disney+ fee once again. Perhaps I'll be proved wrong as it progresses.

The pacing is dreadfully slow, and though - much like Mando - there are some brilliantly aesthetic shots, and even some subtle fan-service nods to the original trilogy, the show is devoid of real 'meat', in my opinion. I've shared these thoughts with my fellow nerdy chums, and needless to say, they weren't impressed with my thoughts. Abandoning the tale of one mercenary for another, I decided to get stuck into the Neymar documentary on Netflix. I'd always thought of the Brazilian as a 'spoiled brat', in all honesty. A petulant and immature prima donna, who would never create a legacy deserving of his undeniable talent, on account of his lazy mindset and love for celebrity lifestyle. The doc, which I presume was created to paint the PSG attacker in some kind of positive light, certainly didn't help ease those presumptions, and sadly, I came away from it still feeling an air of negativity towards him.

After that, it was time to meet my Mum for a coffee (I say 'coffee', but I'm still yet to really get into the taste, I mainly only drink it for that all-important caffeine boost), and so - predictably - I needed up guzzling a hot chocolate instead (Aero Caramel, thoroughly recommended). I was tasked with cooking a sweet & sour pork with rice for dinner, but it's Boxing Day, so fuck that. Instead, it was a chippy tea, followed by a few YouTube re-runs of 'Big Brother 2007' on TV. Remember that one? Ziggy, Chanelle, The Twins, Tracey the raver etc. All in all, I'd call that a solid duvet day...

Despite very little of it being spent under the duvet.
