28th Jan - Volunteering in Ghana
Fans of the diary will already know, via my post in early January, that I'll be heading to Africa this Summer to fundraise for the Wood World Missions charity, helping disadvantaged orphans in Ghana. Well today is the day we can finally share the full details of this incredible upcoming project, and I'm so thrilled to already see so many donations come flooding in. I really cannot stress how important this is, because even amounts which we here in England consider to be 'small', are capable of making a huge difference to the lives of the children in this school. So far, the charity has truly produced some mind-boggling work in creating classroom environments for the student, including real whiteboards, wooden tables, and chairs.
Our initial minimum aim when it comes to donations is £1,000 but we actually hope to raise an amount in far excess of this to truly leave a lasting impression in Accra via the materials we're able to purchase for the children. Armed with experience in teaching, and nursery work, we'll be educating the orphans when it comes to reading, writing, and all things-English, as well as playing games and sports, and even attending Church with them for their Sunday worship service. I hope that this experience will leave them with friends for life, and I want to follow each and every one of them after the trip ends, staying in contact, and hearing of their positive future(s).
If you've already donated, thanks so much.
And if you're yet to, you can do so now via this link.
