4th July - Gable & Fudgie Go Large

With today marking 'independence day', a completely alien concept (ironic, as all I know of it is the Will Smith movie of the same title, featuring aliens), to those of us living outside of the U.S, I thought today's post should centre around 'Gable & Fudgie Go Large', the self-titled trip that I'll be embarking on alongside one of my closest friends come the end of this month. I've only been to the States twice before, which was in 2016 and 2018, and on those occasions, we covered Detroit, Las Vegas, Miami and New York.

This time, the Big Apple & Sin City will once again be getting a tick alongside their name(s), but I'm also excited to throw Philadelphia, Washington DC, The Grand Canyon, Los Angeles and San Francisco into the mix. A good friend of mine lives in Orange County, and another in San Diego, and I'm always somewhat jealous of their social media posts, detailing all the highlights of that famous Californian sunset kinda life. I'm also pretty hyped for the fooood. We're staying right by Fisherman's Wharf when in San Fran, and I've heard the seafood here, caught from the rivers of nearby Alcatraz, is on another level. This is also the spot of Avicii's iconic Pier 94 set from 2011, widely acknowledged by EDM nerds such as myself, as his greatest performance of all time.

Of course, it wouldn't quite be a Fudgie trip without a few pool parties. This man comes alive in the pool, he's like Ronnie O'Sullivan at the Crucible. Chuck him in knee-deep water with a few cold pina coladas (or whatever you'd rather, white wine? That's fine. Just gimme a lager) and some banging tunes, and 'FudgieLive' is born, where he switches on his Facebook camera and broadcasts to the world, showcasing himself as a raving lunatic, like an infant that's just demolished far too many E numbers from a giant tube of Smarties. His energy is infectious, and I can't even begin to imagine what he's gonna be like in Vegas when we go to see Alesso at TAO (The Venetian). Anyway, there's a fair few working days to still squeeze in between now and then, so I'll get back to the grind. But to all my U.S friends...

... Happy Independence Day!
