26th June - The Engagement 'Bubble'

To get engaged is supposed to be one of the happiest moments of your life, and for me - for us - that was certainly true. Though my fiancee and I spoke, at relative length a few days back about the 'engagement bubble'. This is a term used to describe the post-proposal period of bliss and euphoria which typically lasts for between a fortnight and month. A time when you're basking in the glory of your love and one another's company, and receiving well-wishes from friends.

We concluded that, on account of our hectic travelling schedule, we didn't really get a great opportunity to do this. No sooner was that ring on her finger in the Caribbean and we were off into the sky to Ghana for a week. There was Creamfields, my Birthday, and Budapest. By the time we got home, cards from well-wishers had landed on our mat but it was only upon opening them that we had to remind ourself of the big life moment which had occurred a few weeks previous.

Luckily, our schedule is looking much clearer for the next few weeks and we're already making that conscious effort to spend more time together, and just chill in one another's company. Those 'boring' weekday evenings that we haven't had for so long. Last week was set to mark the beginning of such a period, though in the end, my partner was away most nights due to work, and other appointments, and so our bed was a lonesome spot for me to starfish and cram in a few long overdue FIFA sessions.

In the coming weeks, buoyed by our intimacy - hubba hubba ding ding awooga - and love for another, we wish for this next month or so to truly prove a celebration of our love, and to soak in the contented glow of 'the engagement bubble' which we missed out on throughout June. In a few weeks' time, we're hosting a big 'engagement meal' with all of our closest male and female friends. It will be the first time that many of them have met across both tribes, and we want this unit of people to really feel like one big special family, involved in our celebrations (STAG STAG STAG) and anticipation over the next couple of years. Because when the engagement bubble pops...

... The 'married bubble' begins!
