13th April - Knocked Out
After waxing lyrical over the beauty of vaccines yesterday, my bold nature came back to haunt me mid afternoon when I felt floored by a sudden wave of flu-like symptoms. All apparently normal as side effects to the immunisation, but I've woken up today feeling equally todger-like, and had it not been for my recent bout of COVID, I'd have even considered conducting another lateral flow, such are my symptoms.
Elsewhere in the world, I abandoned the chance to watch the Chelsea game last night, partly on account of my illness, but partially down to the fact I thought the tie was dead and buried. Don't get me wrong, as a lifelong Gooner, of course I was pleased to see them get knocked out, but that was peak Champions League drama of the very highest order!
I've got another busy day today so I'll attempt to soldier on, but the tail end of the week isn't looking too bad so perhaps I'll have a full rest day on Saturday and try to shake off whatever madness is going on in my immune system right now. Vaccines... Gotta love 'em, gotta hate 'em. It's the eternal paradox. Right, apologies for the lack of quality in today's diary post but quite frankly, I feel like shit, so I'll leave you with a song based around the theme of getting knocked out, but most importantly, getting back up again. This was the soundtrack to my Summer in 1998...
... Take it away Chumbawamba.
