11th Mar - Look what I just bought! 🤯

It was, undoubtedly, the biggest purchase of my life so far. I'd been saving up for some time now, debating it, pondering whether or not I had the guts to go through with it. You see, it had been on my bucket list for such a long time. I've always enjoyed the cinema, so much so that in the pre-COVID years I was watching around 50-100 movies per year in my local auditorium (God bless VUE's £4.99 Mondays). So it only seemed right, that after so long, I'd finally make the step towards doing it for myself.

I'd wondered, over and over again, if it was the right thing to do. There are so many incredible uses of the money you've earned and saved... Was this the best use for it? Maybe I should be going to the Maldives instead? Buying a new house? Or a fancy car? But... no. This is my passion, and I wanted to pursue it. I opened my banking app and checked my balance. There was just about enough in there to make the dream a reality. And so, yesterday, at around 4pm, doused in torrential rain, and feeling flu-like in symptoms, I decided that I'd finally do it.

I strolled in, shook him by the hand, and we agreed on the transaction which I'd be potentially mentioning for weeks. We both stood for a second, pausing, almost paralysed with excitement at what I was about to do. I'd kept it a surprise, from my partner, and even my closest friends. I hadn't dared tell a soul, in case the deal somehow collapsed in the final seconds. And then, within a split second, it was mine. I heard cheers from the people nearby, and looked around to marvel at my new purchase. I couldn't wait to tell everyone.

A big cup of Coca-Cola, from the Cinema, at the eye-watering cost of £4.99, on a day when I wasn't even going to see a film. What a mad-man. "Do you have a ticket?" asked the spotty teen in the navy Odeon uniform. "Nope," I smirked.... "I just came here for your insatiable sugary goodness, on draught". (I said that last bit, in my own head). I strode out of the venue, and towards the bus stop, expecting SWAT teams and helicopters from above to reign down on me, any second from now. This brazen lunatic, so candidly displaying his moment of madness, with coke cup in hand, fending off the concerned looks of passers-by. I tend to avoid fizzy drinks, on the whole. In modern times, I've even weaned away from blackcurrant squash in favour of nothing but tap water. But on this so-rainy of Thursdays, I sunk into my seat on the bus, headed for home, with the smug satisfaction etched upon my grin, thinking...
